June 28 2017 – Rockland, Maine.  Redzone Wireless, LLC, a leading wireless Internet service provider (WISP), has been recognized by FierceTelecom in their recently published Top 10 list of ISP disruptors to watch in the US broadband services market.

The publication noted:

In January, Redzone introduced and activated the first phase of its ultrafast 5Gx fixed wireless broadband network in selected areas in Maine.  The 5Gx wireless network has been successfully tested to maximum speeds of 450 megabits per second (Mbps), operating within 2.5 GHz and 5 GHz spectrum bands.  5Gx technology affords Redzone the capability to service more customers from each site, and at faster speeds than current 4G LTE alone can provide.

The Federal Communications Commission’s most recent broadband progress report, released in January 2016, found that 53 percent of Americans and 87 percent of rural Americans had no access to high-speed wireless service. Both the relatively limited availability of fast wireless Internet nationwide and the rural-urban disconnect on availability are often cited factors in the so-called “digital divide”, relegating low-income and rural consumers to limited or no internet service.
